Profile 2020

Not all experiences in life are great, but you get something out of every one of them. Making art for me is like me talking through the material. I enjoy representing my feeling and understanding of this world through my art. I love finding connections between materials and their sensations and meaning. 

This specific artwork is representative of a tremendous event for me. I recently lost a best friend, which was a significant change in my life. In this work, I perform my grief and feeling through time. The resin and clarity represent the sharpness of her memory since she was gone, and the writings in the resin are bits and pieces of the letter I wrote her after she was gone. I can never touch those memories I have from her, but I see them clear every day. They are trapped in my body and mind.
